Program dates:  

In Person in Montana and Minnesota: June 10 to August 9, 2024 (Travel dates June 9 and August 10)

We require approximately 40 hours of pre-REU time spent working remotely (for a total REU experience of 10 weeks). During this time you will do some online tutorials, create a basic Arc GIS Story Map and meet for a few hours on zoom with REU mentors and participants.

We will start our journey in Glacier National Park in Montana on June 10 and then begin work at our research sites. At the end of the summer (last full week in August, dates TBD) we have an All-Team Gathering and Research Symposium in Minneapolis, MN. All transportation is provided.

Application and Eligibility
You must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply for this program. The program is open to undergraduate students majoring in civil engineering, geosciences, ecology, mathematics, or related fields. We encourage applications from students of all genders who are Native American, tribal college students, community college students, non-traditional students, veterans, students who have been historically under-represented in their discipline, and students who are first-generation college students. The program provides transportation, housing, and food or full kitchens depending on location, plus a $700/week stipend (total $7000) to all participants. Students who choose to live in their own housing rather than program-provided housing will not receive further compensation for housing costs.
