Hello Everyone! my name is Logan Williams. I am from Browning Montana, I was born and raised on the Blackfeet Nation. I currently go to college at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo Montana, where I am majoring in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. This fall quarter I will be a senior. I am happy to be apart of the REU this year!
This year I am on team SPAW. We got a good group.
My project
For my summer research project, I am doing my research on a threatened bird species called the Yellow Billed Cuckoo. My advisor suggested I do this project, because there has not been enough research on this bird in the Western United States, especially within the state of Montana. The Yellow Billed Cuckoo is threatened on the Flathead Nation and there has only been two sightings of the bird on the reservation. My research will help the CSKT tribe get a better understanding of suitable habitat needs/requirements for the bird on the Flathead reservation to better conserve the habitat requirements.
