Taking core and gas samples from our basin today

Weeding no more
Last week was all about getting our three basins prepped to flood for our research project. This meant weeding all three basins which were under invasion from these crazy long stemmed weeds. We didn’t want to disturb our sites so we used wooden bridges to lean over and weed. This was also a great time to practice our monkey skills and balance.
The “there’s always something” week
The phrase of the week for this week has definitely been “there’s always something”. It’s been fun going out into the field to take core samples, water samples and velocity samples but we seem to be having a slight string of bad luck with test sample bottles breaking, equipment not working, and other slight setbacks. Still, there’s always something to be done and minor setbacks are nothing to fear. I’m actually hoping since this seems to be the bad luck week, it only means good luck for the coming weeks as we get more into our research!
Hello REU SLAWR
Well, if there’s anything I can say about technology, it’s that it’s not my best friend. Day two as part of the Saint Anthony Falls Lab group and we are in the mist of orientation, figuring out how to set up all our accounts and trying not to get lost as we travel through the city. It’s been an amazing first two days and I’ve had such a great time getting to know everyone. I’m excited to get past the account log in shenanigans and ready to dive into our research! Looking forward to the summer! And hoping this actually posts and I finally one upped technology.
