Bonding BBQ

Team SPAW had a BBQ tonight with the intention of team bonding, but the truth is that we were already tired of each other since Yellowstone lol (not true). Shawna cooked some delicious hamburgers, and we got to go tubing on the lake and it was so much fun!! We couldn’t stop laughing!

Here is a pic of our view to the lake :).

Yellowstone

Yellowstone was so much fun! One of the best parts of the trip was that I finally got to see a bear. Since we got here I kept hearing stories about bears and bear attacks so I have been wanting to see a bear for that long. I was amazed by the landscape and the rocks formations. The geysers were very impressive, the water looked so clear that made you want to jump in.  My favorite geyser was prismatic, it was like looking at a rainbow painted on the ground.

Here are some of the pictures I took during the trip. The second one is a picture of the bear which is the black point close to  the bigger pine tree.

4th of July

Last Tuesday was the first time I ever spent the 4th of july in the U.S. I got to celebrate it with some friends in the Flathead lake watching fireworks and playing games. It was fun to see all that people together celebrating  with their family/friends at the Lake. IMG_3401[1]

Regarding my project, I’ve been preparing standard solutions for the past 4-5 days and we still don’t know when we are going to start running our samples. I really hope it is soon.

Semana #2 (Week #2)

This week was a very productive week since I almost finished collecting all of my samples. Today Tony and I started sampling at 7 am!  And honestly, I was half-asleep half-awake for the first hour :). I’m very excited because I only have one more sample to collect and I will probably start doing analysis next week! Here is a picture of me collecting samples at the Kerr Dam

First visit to the sample sites!

On thursday morning Tony drove me and Molly around to locate the water bodies from which we’ll be taking samples from. Using a map and  Pablo’s Waste Water Treatment Plant (PWWTP) wells as the center point, we found some wells, streams, and ponds to sample. Later that day Tyler took us to encampment and we got to visit one of the sacred places for the tribes and we also learned a little more about the tribes’ history. Here is a picture of the PWWTP’s  wells.

Week 1

This past week was very exciting and interesting. I learned new stuff, met new people and visited beautiful places. On sunday we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant that had a very nice view to the Flathead Lake and good food too :). On monday I met the whole SPAW team and had a tour through the SKC campus.
