Finally
So yesterday Molly and I finally began working with our samples!! We’ll finish the last set tomorrow morning and we’ll start doing the analyses. Can’t wait to finish the lab work 🙃
Bonding BBQ
Team SPAW had a BBQ tonight with the intention of team bonding, but the truth is that we were already tired of each other since Yellowstone lol (not true). Shawna cooked some delicious hamburgers, and we got to go tubing on the lake and it was so much fun!! We couldn’t stop laughing!
Here is a pic of our view to the lake :).
Back to reality
After a nice weekend in Yellowstone, I had to come back to work on more standard samples. Hopefully we’ll be able to start analyzing our samples next week *fingers crossed*
Yellowstone
Yellowstone was so much fun! One of the best parts of the trip was that I finally got to see a bear. Since we got here I kept hearing stories about bears and bear attacks so I have been wanting to see a bear for that long. I was amazed by the landscape and the rocks formations. The geysers were very impressive, the water looked so clear that made you want to jump in. My favorite geyser was prismatic, it was like looking at a rainbow painted on the ground.
Here are some of the pictures I took during the trip. The second one is a picture of the bear which is the black point close to the bigger pine tree.
Yellowstone… here we go!
So today team SPAW is going to Yellowstone! We had to be at Tony’s house at 5:15 am 😐, and we left at 5:45. The good thing about leaving that early was the Shawna (Tony’s wife) made us some delicious breakfast burritos. Can’t wait to get to Yellowstone!
4th of July
Last Tuesday was the first time I ever spent the 4th of july in the U.S. I got to celebrate it with some friends in the Flathead lake watching fireworks and playing games. It was fun to see all that people together celebrating with their family/friends at the Lake.
Regarding my project, I’ve been preparing standard solutions for the past 4-5 days and we still don’t know when we are going to start running our samples. I really hope it is soon.
Visit to Glacier!
DeeDee and me in the Going-to-the-Sun Road at Glacier National Park. The landscaping was totally breathtaking!!
Happy 4th of July!
Kerr Dam
Last night we went to take a look at the Kerr Dam and OMG! It was beautiful and impressive!
Bison Range
Today we visited the Bison Range, it was pretty cool! We got to see many of bison and baby bison.
Semana #2 (Week #2)
This week was a very productive week since I almost finished collecting all of my samples. Today Tony and I started sampling at 7 am! And honestly, I was half-asleep half-awake for the first hour :). I’m very excited because I only have one more sample to collect and I will probably start doing analysis next week! Here is a picture of me collecting samples at the Kerr Dam
Start of week 2
Today I finally located all of the sites for my data collection and I will probably start sampling this Wednesday! Tomorrow Molly and I will test some equipment out in one of the wells. Here are two pictures of one of the sample sites.
First visit to the sample sites!
On thursday morning Tony drove me and Molly around to locate the water bodies from which we’ll be taking samples from. Using a map and Pablo’s Waste Water Treatment Plant (PWWTP) wells as the center point, we found some wells, streams, and ponds to sample. Later that day Tyler took us to encampment and we got to visit one of the sacred places for the tribes and we also learned a little more about the tribes’ history. Here is a picture of the PWWTP’s wells.
Week 1
This past week was very exciting and interesting. I learned new stuff, met new people and visited beautiful places. On sunday we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant that had a very nice view to the Flathead Lake and good food too :). On monday I met the whole SPAW team and had a tour through the SKC campus.
