Colombian Independence Day

For Colombian Independence day there was a group throwing a ”picnic” in lake Minnetonka, so I visited with my sister and my cousin. It was very nice to hear Spanish being spoken, and they also had my favorite foods I can rarely access here.

It was so nice to get a little taste of home, it’s rare to get that in Minnesota! I had some good old Pony Malta (Malt Soda) and plantain chips, listened to some salsa and cumbia, and enjoyed the beautiful Minnesota summer weather

Fireworks weekend

It was a very hot week in Minnesota, which made me glad to work in the office where there is air conditioning!! This week I was able to go back home to watch the fireworks with my family which was a lot of fun.  Now that the weather is so hot, maybe this weekend will be the day to go swimming in a lake again! IMG_3305.JPG

Cornercopia

This week team livable communities visited Cornercopia, the student organic farm in the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. They showed us around their 5-acre organic farm which is home to numerous research projects by students and also grows 90 varieties of tomatoes!

First Day At Work !

Working at the Sustainable Cities Network seems to be very interesting– I can’t wait to visit some urban farms and the student farm in the St. Paul campus of Minneapolis which we will do next week. Being in the cities is also great, there is an art festival this weekend and a food truck festival next weekend that I can’t wait to attend
