We collected gravity core samples from the St. Louis River with help from Sophie LaFond-Hudson and Dan F. We went back to the lab and prepared the iron and sulfide vials by inserting them into the glove box in order to create an anaerobic environment. Rhizons were inserted into the soil samples for pore water extraction from the sediment. We inserted a needle into the iron and sulfide vials respectively and waited until the iron vials were ready for analysis. The sulfide vials were kept overnight. Today was an exciting and long day of field and lab work. Nonetheless, we had fun and look forward to more sampling!
